2006年6月23日 · When the cylinder is properly honed round & straight, this is enough of an engine break in. Nikasil & plated cylinder bores must be honed with a diamond coated type of hone mandrel. 2008年6月9日 · He never honed a block simply to re-ring it or try to get the taper out. Honing increases the egg shape of an out of round cylinder, it does nothing to help it. Best thing to do to a eccentric bore is to either bore it (proper method) put rings in it and hope for the best. Honing usually makes a bad situation worse. Just my opinion though. Larry

2005年12月13日 · Originally, I anticipated only going .010 so I had a local vo-tech bore it out that far but as it turns out, the only parts that I could find were .020. The kid at the vo-tech used a milling machine and a brake cylinder hone, much like the average guy could do at home with a drill press. I'm sure that there is a better way to do this, even at home.

A constant stream is fed, as the drill is moved up and down, giving a 45 degree cross hatch pattern to the cylinder surface. The idea is to keep the cylinder surface wet, cool the stones, and wash out the dross left from the honing process.

2003年5月22日 · Take a standard automotive 3 stone hone, and cut the arms holding the stones off at about half of the length. Take some scrap rod and make the arms about 6-8 in longer. When you weld the end with the stone on make sure that it isn't twisted. When you expand the hone, you now have a 12 in + hone.Worked for my 20 hp FM this spring.

2009年5月29日 · I think you should take to .040 O/S and try again. This time use another machinist. Also, some of these so called machinists bore the cylinder to the desired size and the run a "dingleberry" hone through it. This is wrong, wrong! The cylinder is supposed to be bored slightly undersize and then honed to the final dimension with a RIGID hone.
