In this post – basics – I will talk about how each finger corresponds to button (s). Everything below is in reference to the right hand. ☆ refers to the IIDX scale, and ★ refers to the insane (発狂) BMS rating. Your thumb hits #1 and #3.

If you can use various hand positions as I introduced, you may be handle wider range of patterns. But if you want to improve beyond ★13, you’d better get used to these hand positions and improve your skills by playing DBM, DBR, or playing one-handed SP. “Freeform” refers to more loose style where hands and fingers can hit whatever button, finding the “optimal” placement demanded by a chart. Before the difficulty spiked through the roof in IIDX – it was not uncommon to see high level players use unconventional playstyles.

2022年6月7日 · There are many viable finger positions to play IIDX and every single one of them involve using both thumbs. I think most importantly, get comfortable with the key layout first, keep the hand positions advice in mind when playing and play more until you get comfortable with it.

There are many ways to operate seven keys and a turntable using ten fingers. Likewise, in IIDX there are many finger positions, commonly called playstyles. Even when watching high level players there is a variety of playstyles, some of them even named after the players.

Something you must learn when starting out DP is your finger placement. If you have this nailed down in the beginning, it will be immensely helpful. Using the following 2P-side keys as reference, the basic position is hitting 12467 and 13457 with thumb-index-middle-ring-pinky.

Place four fingers from each hand on the keys in a symmetric manner, as in the picture above. Key 4 is shared between the two index fingers. Depending on player preference either the ring finger or the pinky may be used to hit keys 1 and 7.
