One of the features in Inkscape is a tool for tracing a bitmap image into one or more <path> elements for your SVG drawing. These short notes should help you become acquainted with how it works. Keep in mind that the Tracer's purpose is not to reproduce an exact duplicate of the original image; nor is it intended to produce a final product.

Inkscape is powered by libdepixelize with the ability to automatically vectorize these "special" Pixel Art images. You can try other types of input images too, but be warned: The result won't be equally good and it is a better idea to use the other tab in Inkscape's Trace Bitmap dialog.

2021年4月18日 · When you use the "remove background" option, Inkscape can't tell the difference between white and transparent. Here are a couple of simple workarounds: Trace as you would normally, using the "remove background" option. After the trace, draw a white filled shape with the Bézier tool (aka Pen tool), to cover all the white areas inside the logo.

Trace the bitmap, delete the bitmap, and select the trace. Path > Break Apart. Select one of the eye circles, and hold down Shift while you select the head. Both paths are now selected. Path > Difference. Repeat steps 3 and 4 for the other eye. Now all parts are separate paths. The eyes and head are combined as one.
