I just heard that the Church has announced a major shift in access to LDS family services and their licensed counselors. In the past Bishops could opt to pay for the counseling services for a member out of fast offerings, but now the services are being provided free of charge to the unit for active members with a Bishops referral.

My Dad worked for LDS Family services when they used to do adoptions. He also worked in the laminate placement program. Later doing adoptions he would find people that wanted to give up a child for adoption and place them with LDS couples with temple recommends. Gotta grow the cult somehow. This was the 80's.
