I just heard that the Church has announced a major shift in access to LDS family services and their licensed counselors. In the past Bishops could opt to pay for the counseling services for a member out of fast offerings, but now the services are being provided free of charge to the unit for active members with a Bishops referral.

That was a very traumatic and harmful reparative therapy where they tried to change my sexual orientation. The church set me up with the therapist and paid for this 100%.

I have a relative that worked as an LDS family service counselor and manager of an area for 25 years but he was fired for saying something to a group of priesthood leaders in a training meeting that was not exactly "faith promoting".

This started even i was a believer and my faith crisis got in the middle. My bishop didn't care that I wasn't attending, and I was the one to stop it when I resigned.

I heard a lot of stories and a whole lot of women whom were forced into signing by way of money or threats. I recall them bragging about taking the baby just minutes after they where born.

LDS Family Services has counselors available in some areas with high rates of church membership. And bishops can sometimes help members out with the costs of treatment, whether from LDS Family Services or another provider. Unfortunately though, you can't rely on either option being available. It might be. It might not.

If you would like helping paying for the therapy, then that needs to be approved through your Bishop and they will contact LDS family services and arrange the payment. If you don't mind paying for yourself and expect no financial help, then you don't need a referral.

Jun 12, 2020 · I have an ex mo friend who is 47. The other day we were discussing her lds background. She left the church when she was 30; temple marriage the whole 9 yards. Before the temple marriage at 23 ish she got pregnant. Dad ran out and she moved back home. Mom and dad set her up with a single mothers program with lds family services. And stuff got weird.
