The Land Rover petrol and diesel engines shared the same block design. When Rover wanted to offer a turbo diesel they had to strengthen the bottom end. So the petrol version got 5 main bearings & the extra bottom end strength because the 2.25L turbo diesel needed it.

I have a Petronix electric ignition in my distributor so I set the timing dynamically by turning the distributor until the engine sounded the strongest and smoothest.

A bit more expensive, but I wanted Genuine for Two reasons: 1) I saw a Britanica Restorations video on YouTube where the guy showed he got some aftermarket synchro and the teeth were machined wrong. I'm not inclined to deal with that nonsense, so I paid the extra for "Genuine" Land Rover synchros.
