No idea why they were called model 9, it was the first stove that MSR made. The original idea was a reliable, hot burning stove for melting snow and ice for mountaineering.

Once put in in the up position, this makes it more difficult to accidentally knock back down. I like this feature on the MSR. I like its execution on the Toaks even better.

2024年8月15日 · I disagree with this, White gas (Naptha) is a very clean fuel. Kerosene, on the other hand, and automotive gasoline to a lesser extent are pretty stinky and leave residues. The MSR was a bit messy even on gasoline because the shutoff valve was so far away from the burner. Long delay to shutoff. So drips and dribbles galore in practice.
