Manayunk became a part of the City of Philadelphia in 1854 while still maintaining its own identity. Working-class immigrants of German, Irish, Italian, and Polish descent flocked to the neighborhood in search of work and housing.
This walking tour will guide you along the historic Manayunk Canal from the Lock Street Bridge in the center of Manayunk to the more natural environment of Flat Rock Dam, a distance of nearly two miles.

Join us in celebrating The 36th Annual Manayunk Arts Festival this year! Since 1990, the show has built itself into being the tri-state area’s largest outdoor, juried art festival featuring approximately 300 different local and nationally known artists and crafters.
