I have a Marantz SR4400 AVR (bought in 2003) and the subwoofer makes a popping noise everytime I press the mute button, change source or when the amp turns on or off. Jun 11, 2006 · Having said all that, using the pre-outs isn't the best way of doing this. Connect your stereo amp to the SR4400's tape output sockets. These sockets will give you a fixed level, independant of the 4400's settings. These sockets will also, hopefully, give you a downmixed stereo signal, if the SR4400 is in surround mode.

The reason for me choosing this path is because I was told that this is the most cost effective way of going separates with getting good quality amplification with a good quality surround circuitry decoding in a pre-amp.

Aug 31, 2004 · The SR4400 will sometimes "Trip" and shut off, leaving only the Standby light lit and forcing me to switch off my surge protector it's pluged into off then on again (or simply unplug the receiver and plug it back it) to get it to turn on again. Then...as soon as any rear channel information is sent to the reciever, it trips again.

Sep 23, 2003 · I have the Marantz SR4400 paired with Kef 2005.2's replacing a Sony ST930 and so far I find the Marantz a lot more less fatiguing than the Sony in terms of sibilance and musicality. It has loads of power, was very easy to setup, more digital inputs, and less of the useless DSP modes found on most AV receivers.
