About Golowan - Golowan
Deliver free community events over the Mazey Day weekend which traditionally is the heart of the community’s midsummer and Feast of St John celebration.
History - Golowan
Mazey Day, launched each year by the Mayor of Penzance and the Mock Mayor of the Quay, is the centrepiece of the festival in which artists, schools and other community groups fill the streets with music and giant sculptures in a series of parades.
Parades and Artists - Golowan
In the Mazey Day parades, there are wonderful parade structures that have been imaginatively designed to fit each year’s festival theme. These carnival creations are created by children and staff from local schools working with local artists.

Mazey Day in Festival Square (Greenmarket car park), outside St John’s Hall, in Jennings Street and in Morrab Gardens. Quay Fair Day on the South Quay, near PZ Gallery, in Morrab Gardens and near Wherrytown Skate Park.

Friends of Golowan - Golowan
We need up to 50 volunteers on Mazey Day and Quay Fair Day. They make the days go smoothly. A few hours on the Golowan stall, marshalling a parade, giving parading children water at the end, litter picking, shaking a collection bucket.
