2011年5月19日 · Modbus RTU over TCP/IP is typically used by serial servers where you can have an Modbus Ethernet client communicating with multiple Modbus RTU-RS485 slaves, by way of a serial server. The serial server strips off the Ethernet section, and forwards the Modbus RTU message on to the serial port/s.

2009年12月23日 · The big difference (& problem) with Modbus/RTU is that it lacks a sequence number so when pushing Modbus/RTU for max performance with short time-outs etc, you risk mismatching responses and requests (and no, the TCP sequence number does NOT help!) For sure, 'bridging' Ethernet Modbus/TCP to a serial Modbus/RTU device won't speed it up.

Either way, both 103 and 104 are considerably different than Modbus RTU and Modbus TPC, which I'm sure you know. If all your customer wants to do is send/receive values to/from a device, then Modbus RTU will do fine.
