It is one possible additive to grease, and moly is excellent for slow moving, heavily loaded points...I use moly-additized grease on the sliding spline on the driveshaft. So, grease can be lithium base, contain synthetic or conventional oil, with or without moly.

I looked around in 4 auto parts store and they didn't have any. Can I just use a regular lithium base grease? Your help is greatly appreaciated. Thank you

2006年11月24日 · So what is the consensus in using the "better" molybdenum disulfide lithium base chassis grease, NLGI No. 2, in all the 8 zerks on the 4WD driveshafts? 5 of these zerks can use multi purpose grease. 3 of the zerks use this molybdenum grease. Can somebody tell me what exact grease to buy at WalMart, AutoZone, Napa, or Amsoil for this application?

2010年10月19日 · I just realized that I've bought and used perhaps the wrong grease to lube my '05 DC 4x4 drive shaft. I picked up a tube of Valvoline Durablend Synthetic Grease which says on the tube that it's Moly-Fortified. However I went to their website and only their Valvoline Synpower Synthetic Grease has the Molybdenum Disulfide in it.

I've found on the Amsoil website what I think is the correct grease. Has anyone tried using the Moly fortified grease for the double cardan joint and the standard lithium based grease for the remaining fittings?
