2021年10月31日 · I can pretty definitively say this isn't an N64 game (I recently got an Everdrive 64 and went through the entire library - it's not super big). I'm going to take a total shot in the dark here and guess IllBleed for Dreamcast, which also has a big honkin' controller like the N64 did so maybe that's where the false memory is coming from.

These things weren't really commonplace back in 1999 on the N64. One problem which might have been compounded by its age, is that it's very easy to get lost. It had a distinct lack of handholding even back then, and often you will be just trying to find a bunch of Dark Souls (no, not that one) in an area in order to progress.

N64/PS1 graphics absolutely lend themselves well to scaring the player. It's why many of the greatest survival horror games are from that time, and why many modern horror games (like Signalis, check it out!) attempt to emulate that graphics style. That said, those games are ABSOLUTELY worth pushing through the anxiety.
