Nicolae Iorga [alt 1] [a] (17 January 1871 – 27 November 1940) was a Romanian politician who held top posts, including prime minister and president of the Senate. He was also a historian, literary critic, memoirist, albanologist, poet and playwright.

Pe data de 28 noiembrie 1940, fostul minsitru, consilier regal în perioada domniei lui Carol şi academicianul Nicolae Iorga, în vârstă de 69 de ani, era găsit mort la marginea pădurii Strejnic, judeţul Prahova.

Nicolae Iorga was a prominent Romanian historian, Byzantinist, literary critic, writer, and academician of the Romanian Academy. His multifaceted career left a significant imprint on Romanian historiography, literature, and politics.

Nicolae Iorga (nē´kōlī yôr´gä), 1871–1940, Romanian historian and statesman. A professor at the Univ. of Bucharest, he founded (1910) and later led the National Democratic party; after World War I he was president of the Romanian national assembly.

In 1934, Nicolae Iorga published a three-volume Histoire de la vie byzantine subtitled “Empire and Civilization,” the book represented a synthesis of decades-long research in the field. The seed had already been planted in 1907, when the Romanian historian wrote The Byzantine Empire .

When at only 19, Nicolae Iorga (1871-1940) defended his university degree examinations one of his examining professors characterized him as "a true phenomenon both in point of memory and power of ratiocination."

In 1894 a castigat prin concurs la Universitatea din Bucuresti Catedra de istorie universala medievala si moderna, pe care a detinut-o pana in 1940.

La 10 martie 1929, Nicolae Iorga, cel mai de seamă conferenţiar care s-a difuzat la Radiodifuziune, debuta în programele postului naţional.
