Rappelling Safety | Backcountry Post
2012年9月20日 · I'm still very new to the activity of canyoneering, but the recent tragedy in the Subway has me thinking of any possible safety measures that could be taken to avoid such a situation. I thought it might be good to open this up for discussion so I, and others, can learn more. I can't emphasize...
Subway trip mid June - Backcountry Post
2007年8月9日 · You need full rappelling gear now. It used to be that you could get by handlining it (although I wouldn't), but now the last obstacle has changed and it's a full rappel. There are also a couple others that you'll probably want to rappel, but it changes a lot. Last I saw Keyhole Falls had filled in so much that it was pretty easy to just handline.
Packrafting Black Canyon - Backcountry Post
2014年7月21日 · Nothing like rappelling with a sixty pound pack filled with technical gear and rafts to start the trip off right! We launched our packrafts from the mouth of Secret Canyon. The nice thing about this is that the permits for Black Canyon only control launches from below the Hoover Dam, within the dam's security area.
Rope For Non Canyoneering | Backcountry Post
2007年8月9日 · You may be looking for a static rope. 8mm works, could possibly go 6mm would do in a pinch, but you would need to double it for rappelling, tubing would work say for 20' kinda hand over hand. I carry about 60' of 11mm, a little heavy, but I have a lot of that.. I can give you a length if you want that. May want to get a rappelling D-ring as well.

How to prepare for Subway/Orderville/etc | Backcountry Post
2015年3月1日 · I am considering doing a trip centered around some of the easier technical/semi-technical Zion canyons such as the top-down versions of Subway and Orderville Canyon. Unfortunately, I have no canyoneering (or rappelling) experience (other than a few of the easier non-technical canyons like the...
What device do you prefer for Canyoneering? | Backcountry Post
2012年10月16日 · I currently have a couple of Piranas that I use for Canyoneering and I like them well enough. My wife isn't very comfortable with it yet. We are headed down to Zion next week and I am going to buy another rappelling device to lend to a friend. I am trying to decide between getting another...
Behind the Rocks, Ken's Lake Faux Falls, U-Turn Canyon, Seven …
2019年4月9日 · March 25 - 27, 2019 Our outing this week was meant to be an overnight fly-fishing adventure along the Gunnison, but the weather in the Delta and Hotchkiss area didn't look like it was going to cooperate. Moab, however, was forecasted to offer excellent hiking and camping conditions. So...
