It is, and it is called dikaiosune theou (righteousness of God) (Ro 3:21, 1:17), righteousness as it belongs to God, and is of value before Him, Godlike righteousness, see Ep 4:24; with this righteousness thus defined, the gospel (Ro 1:17) comes into the world of nations which had been wont to measure by a different standard.

Do not talk about sin as some abstract thing. Sin is the expression of a person. Satan is sin, and all that emanates from him is sin. In like manner, Christ is righteousness, and the righteousness which is of God is Christ, Who is made unto us from God righteousness (1 Cor. 1:30). He is "the Righteous One" (Acts 3:14). It is personal.

The whole Bible is taken up with this matter of righteousness and unrighteousness, and righteousness is what God is like, what belongs to God. "Righteousness and judgment are the foundation of his throne" (Ps. 97:2). Unrighteousness is that which is against God, against which prophet and seer pronounce God's displeasure and God's wrath.

The only hope is those that are going to be raised up by God as a force and standard or righteousness. God is raising these fearless, anointed, God-filled men who will proclaim the message of righteousness, holiness and the majesty of God. God is looking for men who are willing to be those who will make the paths straight for the Lord again.

"Not knowing about God's righteousness, and seeking to establish their own, Israel did not subject themselves to the righteousness of God" (Romans 10:3). Our own righteousnesses (our very best works) are all like filthy rags in God's sight (Isaiah 64:6). They are an abomination in God's eyes - and that is why they must be thrown away.

If we do not know it as that, we do not know what true preaching is. God entrusts a heavenly word to proceed out of earthly lips, out of a man who is dust and who knows it, and who is so aware of his frailty. For the true preacher of righteousness, the proclamation of the word is always an urgent issue of life and death.

Jesus also came to do the will of the Father. He came to establish His will on earth as it is in heaven. Now that is why sickness and sin fled away from Jesus because there is no sickness or sin in heaven. The Kingdom of God is a country where sin and sickness cannot rule because God s righteousness and God s will are established there.

2. Christians should not despair, though they have not attained perfection, provided they make daily progress in piety and righteousness. 1. WE have said that the object of regeneration is to bring the life of believers into concord and harmony with the righteousness of God, and so confirm the adoption by which they have been received as sons.

1. If there was any righteousness that could come by the law, Christ's death would be in vain. Christ had died in vain, if any man could have stood accepted before God without the virtue of his death. The virtue of Christ's death was of efficacy for the rendering men accepted before God, even before he came into the world.
