I would talk about “the entry or the chorus after the solo” in the first; as for the second you would use language around differentiating between the ensemble of voices & ensemble of instruments (e.g. “an orchestral tutti after an a cappella chorus”).

2024年3月5日 · Ritornello is somewhat related to the idea of antiphony but it involves the contrast of a solo instrument or small instrumental group against a full orchestra in the concerto form. Often the ritornello repeats a melodic idea so that hearing it, for example, first in the orchestra then again from the soloist provides a definite timbral contrast.

Well I looked up the difference between ritardando and rallentando and it talked about the typical definition and how that brings confusion and then it went into the literal translation from Italian and that's where I found the ritardando is deliberate whereas rallentando is fading out.

2018年4月5日 · Strictly speaking of pop/rock music I think there is a difference between chorus and refrain. A chorus is a full blown section that has harmony, lyrics, and melody that is repeated and generally contains the "hook" of the song.

2019年4月16日 · @LSM07 pedal point is the usual term in classical theory for a note that is held for an extended but temporary period in a piece, even if not in the bass (though it is commonly in the bass and it takes its name from that fact).
