Tod and Buz reach the destination they started for in Episode One, Louisiana, and jobs working as crewmen on a shrimp trawler. However, crewing for a beautiful female captain, the resentment of local fishermen and a deadly storm at sea were results that were totally unexpected by them.

Tod and Linc are en route from St. Louis to Memphis, Tennessee. They stop in Mapleton, Mo., for gas. Tod defends a transient hobo from troublemakers. Deciding to stay, Tod & Linc go to work for a rubber processing plant. Later when the hobo is accused by a mob of vigilantes of bringing a sleeping virus into town Tod once again helps him.

They're looking for a short-cut to Route 66 - what they find is Trouble in a rural no-man's land, that appears to be, by the accents of the populace, Southern, these accents are not consistent enough to localize the exact location, never named.

This episode, with the appearance of William Shatner, just a few years prior to his seminal role in Star Trek, is no exception. In this case, that's actually an unwanted distraction because this is a very well done and impassioned episode of R66.

The episode has a very shocking scene where Tod takes part in a gang beating of Buz! However the story does have a lot of weaknesses. One is the group's absurd plans of blowing up a crowd of would be followers and then using the ensuing trial as a pulpit to promote their agenda.
