If the hole is really stripped out, the slivers of wood approach Steve mentioned is the next best answer. I have occasionally drilled out the screw hole oversize and glued a matching piece of wood in the hole.

There might be a situation where in a pocket screw and glue might be needed...but I can't think of one. OK..I thought of one...possibly. Attaching the fronts to the boxes with pocket screws and glue might be advantageous if you don't have the clamps.

2022年10月18日 · What I would try first is to drive a wooden match stick into the hole with some wood glue and let it dry. That usually will get the job done. Another option would be to drill the hole out and put a threaded insert in it. Then use a machine screw in that hole. You could also drill all the way thought and insert a tee nut from the back side.

2009年5月14日 · Hardboard does not work well for wide drawers and doesn't glue well. Usually I cut the slots and glue it in, but once I built a desk center drawer that was about 30” wide. I wanted room for an arm chair to fit under it, so I glued and nailed a 1/4” piece of plywood flush with the bottom and used drawer slides.

2024年12月22日 · Wood glue won't work for a re-glue because it has to soak into the fibers of the wood to work and the fibers are sealed with the old glue. gorilla glue is just a temporary fix, the stuff should be banned for anything but craft work. What would make a permanent repair is a two part epoxy. It's designed for not porous applications.

The cross grain of a plug holds better than the end grain of a dowel. Toolman’s idea of silicone is a good one.
