Why do people use “she/they” or “He/they” as their pronouns?
2023年10月11日 · She/They or He/They is shorthand for she/her + they/them or he/him + they/them There are many reasons as to why someone might use these two types of pronoun sets. I will use he/they for my examples but the same applies for she/they, just swap the masculine terms out for the feminine ones. Speaking of the examples:

2018年7月12日 · Recently I have noticed a few people listing either "she/they" or "he/they" as their preferred pronouns. I'm not really sure how to read this, since they seem contradictory. Is it (in the case of "she/they"): Either she or they is fine. I sometimes prefer she, sometimes they. I'm ok with "she" but prefer "they" pronouns in general?

she/they means their pronouns are both she/her and they/them. cis people can use them if they want, but most often it's trans/nonbinary people. yes. you can use either. some people want you to regularly rotate between which pronoun you use, but i think most people would prefer you pick one and stick with it.

I use she/they pronouns, and it might be different for others but I identify as non-binary, though I'm mostly femme-presenting. I generally prefer they/them pronouns, but as feminine pronouns don't give me discomfort and I've been using them most of my life, I continue to use she/her as well.

She/they is a set of pronouns. People like to be playfully transphobic and ascribe traits to people who use she/they pronouns (Afab Nonbinary person who presents feminine with long hair) when the only thing those pronouns tell you is the person goes by both she/her and they/them. She/they also doesn't mean "her" and "them" aren't allowed.

2021年5月30日 · usually when people write they/she, it means that they prefer they/them most of the time, but an occasional "she" is fine, and she/they is the other way around. however, it varies from person to person, and can mean different things to everyone, and people may list their preferences in different ways.

2022年1月12日 · Obviously there are some cis gendered women who are using it to feel cool or hip as you say. But to assume that all the gendered women are doing that is an issue. The reason I use she/they pronouns is because I was referred to as “they” at one point by a person who wasn’t sure of my gender, and I realized that I really liked how it felt.

2021年9月28日 · I use she/they, because I ldenitfy as lunarian or feminine aligned nonbinary and feminine sounding pronouns seem right to me, but I'm not a binary woman. I just cringe whenever someone calls me a woman or worse girl. But I'm perfectly happy using feminine sounding pronouns. Quite frankly I'm just indifferent to which of the two pronouns people use.

About two months ago, I had a member of my cohort actually take me seriously and start using both instead of just feminine pronouns (I am afab and dress traditionally feminine).

2022年2月25日 · Not for me, but I don’t think there’s a “set” way. I go by she/they because I prefer different pronouns for different settings as a safety thing. Sometimes I don’t feel safe/welcome to be openly queer, and in those settings I’ll go by “they.” Most of the time I go by “she,” but I keep “they” as a safety measure.
