Sidmouth Town Band - The Sidmouth Folk Festival
There has been a band in Sidmouth for over 150 years, with the earliest record being a picture of the band taken in 1862. In addition to competing in contests throughout the year, the band hold our regular summer concerts in the Connaught Gardens in Sidmouth, every Sunday night from late May through to September.

Richard Thompson - The Sidmouth Folk Festival
Having co-founded the groundbreaking group Fairport Convention as a teenager in the 1960s, he and his bandmates invented the distinctive strain of British Folk Rock. He left the group by the age of 21 which was followed by a decade long musical partnership with his then-wife Linda, to over 30 years as a highly successful solo artist.
