I had to do so for my copy of SimCity Societies Deluxe that I got as part of the SimCity Box. but that was years ago when Origin was still going strong. they ended up giving me the standard version plus the expansion, which i guess equals the deluxe version?

First, SimCity Societies: Destinations is a DLC, so unless you have the SimCity Societies base game installed, it is not going to run as a standalone game. Secondly, old CDs for games like SimCity Societies will absolutely not run on modern systems. They were made with a special kind of copy protection called SecuRom.

I am not familiar with SimCity Societies, but I can see that it is a very old game and therefore may have issues installing and playing on newer systems.
