Jessie, thanks for the canned reply. Reset and unplug do not resolve the problem. Something is wrong with the engineering of the UBP-X800. Sony should assign resources to develop and distribute a correction.

Differ all you want, but I've owned and used both Sony UBP-X800 and now the Sony UBP-X1000ES, BOTH on the latest firmware and BOTH feed both Atmos and DTS:X to my Sony STR-ZA5000ES receiver perfectly. I would reset your UBP-X800ES to factory setting, the go into audio settings and turn BD Audio Mix "Off".

I have exactly same problem, UBP-X800 used only a few times. It is disappointing that Sony is not able to send out a fix. the support site goes on and on about the steps we are all doing without success. I have supported Sony by purchasing allot of their products for many years.

Sony ubp-x800 DVD playback issues
My Sony ubp-x800 blu ray player has issues playing certain DVDs. It plays all blu ray discs with no problem but it won't play certain DVDs. I know it's the player because sometimes when I eject the disc and put it back in or when I turn off the unit and turn it back on, it plays the DVD disc.

2020年3月1日 · After 2 years of working well my UBP-X800 now displays SONY on the screen and nothing else when powered on. Video will drop for a second every minute and SONY will reappear. The disc tray works. I can't access menus nor play discs.
