Kalesnikoff Mass Timber announced it will build a $34 million mass timber facility in West Kootenays, British Columbia. It will create up to 90 jobs. New and expanded products and services will include modular construction, prefabricated mass timber and light frame components, and custom installation-ready products.

Kalesnikoff’s $35 million mass timber investment will encompass construction of a 110,000 sq. ft. building, and the purchase of state-of-the-art processing equipment and technology from leading companies including Denmark-based Kallesoe Machinery and Canadian-based Conception RP.

The first and biggest cross-laminated timber (CLT) manufacturing plant in the eastern U.S. is nearly fully operational, with 25 employees currently working a portion of the plant.

International Beams plans to build the first cross-laminated timber production facility in the Southeastern U.S. in Dothan, Ala. A 227,000 square foot facility, a vacated GE plant, will be the manufacturing site for the company’s two new products, …

The new plant will make Roseburg the largest U.S. manufacturer of engineered wood products serving independent distributors without captive distribution. Roseburg first established its engineered wood products business in 2001 and currently manufactures RFPI Joists, RigidLam LVL and RigidRim Rimboard at its plant in Riddle, Ore.

Tembec founder Frank Dottori appears to be fronting the establishment of Ontario’s first cross-laminated timber (CLT) plant in St. Thomas, Ontario. The Ontario government announced a contribution of close to $5 million for the $32 million facility.

On the first day of the show, Wednesday, September 25, at 3 p.m., everyone is invited to attend the presentation of the ­Timber Processing 2024 Person of the Year Award to Andy Pollard of Pollard Lumber in Georgia. Pollard is the 36th annual recipient of the award.

The CalAg rice straw-based medium density fiberboard plant is becoming a reality. CalPlant I, as it is called, has completed and closed financing for a $315 million plant to be built in Willows, Calif. with a production capacity of 140MMSF (3/4 in. basis) and a startup goal of late 2018.

Drax is continuing to develop plans for a third plant. The pellets produced at the new satellite plants will be transported to Bruce Oakley terminal in Little Rock, Ark. before being shipped south to Louisiana to oceangoing vessels. Each pellet plant is expected to produce 40kt per year.
