We have both Coed and All-Girl cheerleading teams that represent the University of Virginia at athletic and community events. Both teams cheer on the sidelines of every home football game in Scott Stadium as well as home basketball games at John Paul Jones Arena.

Welcome To Virginia Cheerleading. This website is a salute to all University of Virginia cheerleading teams from 1993-2018. My name is Jim Arbuckle, and the main purpose of this site is hope that former UVA cheer alumni and friends will donate to the current Cavalier cheerleading teams through the Virginia Athletic Foundation .

The costumed Cavalier with a large character head debuted the following football season in 1984 and has remained the official mascot of the University. The Cavalier performs with the UVA cheerleaders at all football and men’s and women’s basketball games as well as various other University-related and athletic events.

The 2022-23 Virginia Dance Team is comprised of 13 dancers with backgrounds in jazz, ballet, hip-hop, cheerleading, and even gymnastics. The team cheers and dances on the sidelines of all home football games and performs halftime routines at home men’s basketball games. The majority of the routines the team performs are jazz and pom.

Cheerleaders of the ACC. For over twenty years I have taken a team photo of every Atlantic Coach Conference cheerleading teams that came to Scott Stadium to cheer football games. Back in 1994, there were only nine ACC schools. Now the conference has grown to fifteen.
