Where is the volume expander tool? How can I expand the volume?
Apr 13, 2018 · I found a few pages mentioning a volume expander tool, but I don't see this anywhere under the tools menu. In any case, I want to expand my volume. Here's my situation: I had a 130gb vmware image with a 100gb veracrypt container file in it.

Aug 5, 2020 · Once you know that it is unmounted and the Veracrypt app is open, go to Tools. Once in Tools go to the option for Volume Expander. This sub-program will allow you to "expand" your volume to your desired volume from 85 GB to X GB of your choice within the space of your storage capacity.

Feb 2, 2024 · VeraCrypt Expander doesn't do the actual volume expansion for you, rather it handles expanding the VeraCrypt volume. You first need to expand the RAW partition in your disk management, then when the volume is larger, you'll use VeraCrypt Expander to expand the VeraCrypt volume within the volume to the full size of the volume it resides within.

Jun 13, 2019 · I am curious also if you can srink a volume size my problem is I have a 1TB with two veracrypt volumes on it 600gb and a 250gb and I need to srink the 250gb and extend the 600gb so I'm wondering if you figured it out or if anyone knows? I dont want to decrypt and then encrypt the two volumes it takes a long time trying to do them in place.

Jun 8, 2021 · VeraCrypt doesn't hold the entire volume in memory. It acts like a stream, only reading into memory the data you read from/write to the volume. If you didn't access the data after mounting it, it never entered RAM anyway. Where a potential issue can exist is the master key being kept in RAM, however point 1 still applies.

Aug 2, 2023 · VeraCrypt Expander doesn't do the partition expanding for you, only the encrypted container part inside the partition. The unallocated space should be to the right of the encrypted partition, then expand it (in diskmgmt.msc).
