The problem is that too many "cult movies" are basically cheap gambles for the studio; Vice was bleeding out badly at the time and Gummo was more or less a failure, there was a bit more hype and advertising, some prestige positioning like Herzog and Godard.

2022年12月18日 · Found my brother OD'd on the floor while watching Gummo. Went to the bathroom at 2am and saw him purple foaming at the mouth. Had narcan and now a few years later he's clean. Won't ever forget that movie. If it wasn't so segmented I might not have stepped out of the room.
