2015年7月25日 · The bees that dragged the white bee out seemed very unhappy with the white bee! Anyway, I don't have an answer but was curious about it as it happened right in front of me. I did an inspection today and did discover many queen cups and what I believe is a queen cell thats capped. I'm a new bee and don't know what I should do next.

2022年8月21日 · Queen-Rearing is simply about the mechanics of producing Queens, whereas Queen-Breeding is about selecting which Queen(s) should be used to rear future Queens from. FWIW - it was Brother Adam who (afaik) first suggested that hobbyists with small apiaries divide them in two, then rear Queens from the half judged as being 'better' (undefined).

2023年11月20日 · The drill being to immerse the cell punch into a jar of very hot water, and then simply to gently press down around the target, white or pale yellow comb being best for this process (of course). Punching much darker comb was possible, but sometimes repeated attempts proved necessary.

2023年9月5日 · Without a Queen, that colony is doomed. But - if the beekeeper spots the new Queen's absence and has more than one colony, a frame of eggs/larvae can be donated, and the queenless colony given a second chance to raise it's own Queen. So - keeping just one hive is never a good idea.

2009年6月16日 · The queen and her workers didn't survive. I found them dead in their cage the following day and all of the bees had left. The guy I got the queen from said if I could get up a hive body of bees together, he would take them to his bee yard and load it with more bees and let them raise a queen there.

2007年4月9日 · Yes, below the chalky white stuff, in the same cell, many have gold-orange-colored material with the same hard, chalky texture. It would appear to be pollen if it did not have a white, chalky cap of about the same depth. It seems that these cells have about half yellow-orange material at the bottom, and the upper half is white.

2004年10月5日 · I just inspected my hives and installed my Apistan strips. I have observed over the summer plenty of bees with mangled wings in and outside my hives. However, this was the first time that I noticed so many uncapped pupae in the hive body frames. They look like full grown bees, but they are still white with pink eyes inside uncapped cells.

By looking at the tip of the cell you can tell one that is just capped (soft and white) from one that is about to emerge (brown and papery and often cleaned down to the cocoon by the workers). A soft white queen cell is between eight and twelve days old.

2018年10月12日 · On a white background they appear as tiny red specs, with the lens, you can see their feet. It is extremely rare for an untreated hive to have zero mites in the late summer. So my first guess would be that either the treatment was ineffective or you may not know what to look for when checking mite drops.

2017年4月3日 · One technique I've read about but never done is that for separating a queen from another mass of bees: staple a queen excluder to the bottom of a deep, put duct tape on the inside rim of the walls (the statement accompanying this is that bees don't like the plastic surface of the duct tape, or don't stick to it well and fall into the box easily), and shake the bees through it.
