XServe SSD replacement? - MacRumors Forums
2015年7月20日 · My rationale for powering ahead with the existing Xserve has been - the robustness of a 6 year old Xserve versus a new Mac Pro or Mac mini. Since the Xserve has redundant power supplies and redundant internal drives, it would always be a better bet than a consumer level machine. If it dies, we'd replace it with another Mac.

2011年2月1日 · Update on Xserve Processor Upgrades Thank you to everyone who added their thoughts and advice. Realizing that the Westmere line uses the same socket I have determined to try my hand at those. Better yet, I will be attempting, to the best of my knowledge, the first 12 core Xserve. I will be going as big as I can get with a pair of six-core X5690.

re: Xserve Graphics Card - MacRumors Forums
2005年8月24日 · If ethernet really is that important, just install a PCI-X 1-gigabit Broadcom card -- which is all Apple did on the XServe. The XServe's real talent comes from the Server tuned OS and the applications that run it -- especially since Apple has imposed increasingly resrictive concurrent user limits on the base OS since 10.0.0 arrived.

What to do with G5 Xserve? - MacRumors Forums
2014年3月19日 · I mean, even with the same clock speed, shouldn't the Xserve be slower. Because, how should you save electricity, when you use the same CPU-chip? As a 'desktop', the only notable features of an XServe, versus a g5 tower, as the hot-swap drive bays, the larger RAM capacity, the rather common dual-Gigabit ethernet, and a proper serial port.

2018年8月30日 · I think you should probably start by replacing microcodes for cpu support like it was firstly made with mac pro 4.1, then adding nvme like it was made with mac pro 5.1 prior bootrom 140 was out. Then we preserve our xserve identification gaining 12 core config with nvme boot without cross-flashing tower-based cibling firmware. Just an idea though.
