2020年6月6日 · A relative of mine has a 2004 50 HP 4-stroke Yamaha he bought new and it has always ran great until now. I’m going to take a look at it in a few days and thought I’d ask if anyone knows of any issues this model is known for that could cause it to not rev up all the way. He said his boat had always done 24 MPH and now he only gets 17 MPH.

2021年7月3日 · I have a 6hp yamaha model 677 and I want to upgrade to 8 hp since there are the same engine block. What I made : replace the carburetor and red valve with 8hp Mariner model 677 parts . The result: engine runs like 6hp engine , no extrapower . Do I have to change more parts, to change settings for other parts ? Please advice me .

2017年11月29日 · The other downside is low end torque is lacking. You need more HP to get a skier or multiple skiers out of the water. I used to routinely pull three teenage skiers out of the water with a 1960 40 HP Johnson. I doubt there is a 40HP 4-stroke that can do that. This also means more HP to plane bigger boats, or plane them faster.

2019年2月28日 · on second thought I think the spring or rod from the choke solenoid must hold the plate open. Like I say, the picture shows that the choke linkage is NOT connected to the solenoid plunger, I don’t see the plunger rod/wire either….So, the solenoid plunger will have no effect on the choke whether activated in the warm up or full choke modes….

2022年6月9日 · I think the “classic 50” was actually an inline 4 cylinder 45 hp. If that’s the case, I am going to call it a 1989. Staring serial number for the that group was 0B393190. Most of the time, Mercury doesn’t care too much, if any, about model year. They mostly care about serial number range, when looking up parts.

2016年4月30日 · merc 50 and a Classic 50 (45hp) my two biggest engines in past days. Absolutely great engines imho a bit thirsty but gas was cheap then . trolled all day no hick-ups. my 2005 ETEC 75 is now my "best engine ever" sips gas and oil…. idles all day at half liter of gas/hour smokeless odorless

2017年3月6日 · OK, I "think" I know what you are referring to. Although, in Mumbles’ picture the spring/arm appears to have been wrapped back on the carb throttle arm and tucked under the roller….What is referred to as the over ride spring in Frank’s diagram seems to be in the wrong position or named poorly.

2021年9月6日 · Here’s an Evinrude service data sheet that gives oil ratios for that year range of motors – Johnson motors of the same HP would be the same mix. Personally, I would stay with 16:1 on any motor before 1960 and 24:1 for motors 1960 thru 1963, just my thoughts.
