The first 90% of the first Conjuring movie was pretty scary because I’ve had some creepy experiences before. I can’t think of much else that I’ve watched and actually still think “Wow that was scary/creepy”. I thought Hereditary was extremely boring, though a few of the scenes were good at the horror part.

I didn't think it was as good as some of the reviews it received. It did the job of being scary, but only in a couple of parts. There was a 20 minute spell where I was actually pretty bored but then it picked up again. The acting was good and the story was ok, but it wasn't anything special.

The really dumb thing is that the best horror movies have always had a subtext of relevant, even biting social commentary. They just didn't beat you over the head with it, relegating the actual horror to the far background. I'm all for horror movies being smart, and socially aware, and progressive. But they still need to be fucking scary.

2022年12月7日 · One of the best horror movies ever imo, with a few caveats. But it was the only time I’ve seen one of these films and actually felt disturbed. I feel like the ending was the weakest part of the film, they didn’t do it as strongly as they could have.
