I’ve been looking for some great psychological horrors with good twists, a fucked up story, very atmospheric (like the lighthouse, hereditary, anything done by a24 or Robert Eggers), and also movies like Martyrs especially, Terrified, The Dark and The Wicked.

2021年2月8日 · Actually scary horror movies are rare, while actually dramatizing or romantic or action movies usually live up to their names. For the people who were here to see what were scary or not, here's my collection of what I've watched and how scary they are. Scary: Both Conjuring Movies, Sinister, Hush, Hereditary, The Witch, and Insidious.

The first 90% of the first Conjuring movie was pretty scary because I’ve had some creepy experiences before. I can’t think of much else that I’ve watched and actually still think “Wow that was scary/creepy”. I thought Hereditary was extremely boring, though a few of the scenes were good at the horror part.

They ask for any horror films which are actually scary, they get drama genre recommendations. The real problem with horror genre is tjst you're all cowards who have long destroyed the genre. There is no horror genre, just a horro-for-cowards genre; the rest of us are stuck seeking any film that might be the slightest bit scary.

2013年6月16日 · No, but it actually has a well developed protagonist, REALLY fucking creepy scenes early on and a finale that is not as disappointing as horror movie finales usually are (I mean, it still drops off in the second half but not as badly as a lot of movies out there).

The post, prior to the edit clarifying, seemed to imply that OP didn't find them scary. What are some ACTUALLY scary movies? ...I don't want to see It Follows, Hereditary, or The Babadook suggested here. I know redditors are obsessed with these movies.

I didn't think it was as good as some of the reviews it received. It did the job of being scary, but only in a couple of parts. There was a 20 minute spell where I was actually pretty bored but then it picked up again. The acting was good and the story was ok, but it wasn't anything special.

The really dumb thing is that the best horror movies have always had a subtext of relevant, even biting social commentary. They just didn't beat you over the head with it, relegating the actual horror to the far background. I'm all for horror movies being smart, and socially aware, and progressive. But they still need to be fucking scary.

2022年12月7日 · One of the best horror movies ever imo, with a few caveats. But it was the only time I’ve seen one of these films and actually felt disturbed. I feel like the ending was the weakest part of the film, they didn’t do it as strongly as they could have.
