Annie Walsh Old Girls Association (AWOGA) is an organization for the alumnae of the Annie Walsh Memorial School (AWMS) in Freetown, Sierra Leone, West Africa. There are chapters of this organization internationally, including

In 1865, the school moved to its present location in Freetown on Kissy Road and was formally named the Annie Walsh Memorial School in 1878. The School’s Mission To train young African girls in pursuit of excellence in all areas, including high academic performance, sound discipline and a solid Christian foundation.

It seems it was only the other day that ex-pupils of the Annie Walsh Memorial School were feverishly planning to celebrate the 160th anniversary of the school. Events were organized worldwide. Bags were packed as AWOGA Washington members joined others for the big celebration in Freetown, Sierra Leone.

The Presidents’ Council, acting as an umbrella for all the different AWOGA branches in the Diaspora, coordinates all support efforts in collaboration with the AWMS Development Fund and the management team at our school in Freetown.

The Annie Walsh Old Girls Association Washington Metropolitan Branch. Over the last 30 years, AWOGA Washington has made and continues to make numerous, significant contributions to the AWMS which include: Donating a beautiful stained glass window for the school’s chapel ; Rebuilding the wall around the school

All Ex-Pupils are eligible and invited to become members of the AWMS Old Girls Association (AWOGA). The primary objective of this association is to provide financial support and assistance in promoting the academic, social and cultural goals of The Annie Walsh Memorial School.
