Mar 3, 2007 · Benedryl is diphenhydramine, and Dramamine Kids is dimenhydrinate. Essentially, diphenhydramine is the purer (and more potent) form of the drug. When it encounters the water in the body, dimenhydrinate breaks down INTO diphenhydramine.

Mar 7, 2016 · Sea Bands definitely helped my kids when they were little. As they got a bit older we started using Bonine. But then that reached a point where it didn't seem quite as effective. They're both teenagers and still have issues with carsickness on long car rides. Still hate Dramamine because of the "knock out" effect.

Mar 1, 2013 · I have two kids prone to motion sickness so we have lots of experience with children's Dramamine. It's all about finding the right dose, start with 1/2 a pill and go up from there. 1.5 pills is enough to make her feel better, 2 pills knocks her out.

It's safe and we like it a lot better than Dramamine. And it tastes like baby aspirin, is a very small pill, and the kids have an easy time as it's chewable. Jan 31, 2002 · Dramamine original (active ingredient Dimenhydrinate) can also make some people sleepy, but it's the only commercial medicinal remedy that's safe for kids under 12. Wristbands work great too, but don't waste money on the $70 battery-operated ones--the $9 terry cloth with a snap ones work just as well, in our experience.

Jul 4, 2006 · Dramamine Less Drowsy Tablets and Bonine Tablets are medically the same. Both are 25 mg/tablet of meclizine hydrochloride. There's also Dramamine Original Formula (dimenhydrinate), which is medically entirely different than Dramamine Less Drowsy Tablets. There is no product called Non Drowsy Dramamine.

Jan 28, 2001 · I realize that dramamine causes drowsiness, but so does meclizine, just not as bad. You can always try giving less dramamine to see if it causes less drowsiness but still takes care of the motion sickness. I give dramamine to my kids and I give them each a different dose. I give the 8 year old 1/2 tab and my 12 year old 2 tabs.

May 6, 2009 · I normally take the kids dramamine the first night because I am always a little worried until I get my sea legs. After reading the boards I decided to try the Bonine last year on the Freedom of the Seas and I gave my daughter a half dose. I always take a little less than the recommended dose. Wow! That stuff knocked me for a loop.
