However, you can run any autorun file and anything else that is on the key. Autoplay just makes things easy for any device that can use it. It does not prevent running anything at all.

Go to: Control Panel > Hardware and Sounds > AutoPlay. Or more simply, click on Start > Type autoplay and press Enter. Put a check on Use AutoPlay for all media and devices to make that AutoPlay popup-dialog appears for you again when you insert a external media device. You might need to reboot your computer in order for this to work.

2023年5月23日 · Never got to the bottom of this but for a smooth autoplay solution, I ended up adding a VLC playlist file to startup folder, the XML video path pointing at the USB drive and setting video play settings manually inside VLC via tool menu. The letter is always the same thanks to USBDLM. –
