In 2020, Netflix acquired the landmark Egyptian Theatre from the American Cinematheque; the movie palace underwent a much-needed renovation from 2021 to 2023 which returned the theatre to its original 1922 grandeur. The renovations were completed and the theatre officially reopened on November 9, 2023.
