2024年3月3日 · Countless threads and times I've recommended a new rad to folks with overheating issues. Most ppl. are too cheap and think that just because it "looks fine" it should be good. I know this because I was one of those stubborn ppl. Now I know better and simply replace the rad at age/mileage rather than by "appearance".

2023年4月21日 · Hi all -- my father's 2008 XC70 (~105k miles) has been having some intermittent overheating issues for a while now. Last fall it would give him the High Engine Temp Stop Safely message if he drove in heavy traffic with the A/C on full blast for extended periods.

2021年5月22日 · Most likely a dead or dying cooling module. Happened to me on my XC60 - exactlly same message, no loss of coolent fluid etc. It's the small square silver box attached to cooling fan assembly with three wires attached from memory. As Volvo no longer supply these modules they will sell you the entire assembly at around USD$1500.

2016年8月29日 · It will run for the first 20-30 seconds when you turn it on during idle, then disengages and eventually causes overheating. My radiator blew last month, and was replaced. Then we noticed the fan wasn't coming on, so I replaced the fan with a pulled Volvo fan of the same model & part number.

The most common reasons a Volvo XC70 is overheating are a coolant leak (water pump, radiator, hose etc.), the radiator fan, or a failed thermostat.

2024年5月16日 · If so, then if it is showing me that the engine is overheating then I'm assuming that it is operating properly and the problem is likely that the fans aren't running as they should. I may just have to try a new fan controller and see if that fixes it.

2012年2月27日 · I get this message every few days or so, but my car is absolutely not overheating. I disconnect the negative battery cable and the error resets. After a few days I get the warning again. Is this a bad thermostat or bad sensor. Any info on how to fix it myself would be greatly appreciated.

2008年8月22日 · I had the same problem of High Engine Temperature notification with Volvo S60 T5 and after diagnosis, the consultant told me that the Thermostat had stopped working and needed to be replaced. Overheating is the most common symptom of a failing thermostat. Due to corrosion or aging, your car's thermostat can get stuck in a closed position.

2022年11月8日 · Get a quality Thermostat from VOLVO or LAND ROVER don't buy aftermarket. If I were you I would fix the Thermostat immediately and then work on the cooling fan. I can show you a link to a LR2 owner with a failed head gasket due to over heating (I don't recommend that you take that path)
