Wild tarragon (Artemisia dracunculus) is one of my favorite wild herbs. It is found from the prairie to the mountains over a large swath of the western US, although I usually find mountain populations to be better-tasting. There are different phenotypes, which means that some populations smell and taste like tarragon and others do not.
