Monarch butterflies rely on milkweed but this plant is most commonly found in the ditch along roadsides where the county sprays poison for weed control. Often I’ve seen milkweed sprayed quite often and there is very little habitat for monarch butterflies outside of the milkweed. Pasture and roads are pretty hostile for such a fragile species so I’m moving the seeds I find to more wild spaces. #Milkweed #monarchbutterflies | Michael Ridge
