How do frigatebirds find their mates?

Magnificent frigatebirds have short legs and small feet. This makes it difficult for them to walk on land and their long wingspan makes it hard for them to take off from the ground. In fact, they prefer to forage on the fly and ride the wind thermals as they go because they do not have waterproof feathers and never land in water or swim. We choose to release our recovered frigates off of the Goodland Bridge, so we can get them as close as possible to the high wind thermals they need to fly. Happ
