Ask and you shall receive. Here I am poofing a multitude of puffballs to help spread their spores. The brown powdery spores are hydrophobic and are usually spread when the mature fruiting body is hit by rain drops, but I figured I would help them along. This is an excellent example of how a puffball mushroom expels spores! 🍄💨 Spores are typically dispersed by rain, wind, or interactions with wildlife. A person coming along and “puffing the spores” (as seen here) is harmless for both the fungi and the human.
