Grandpa 808… In 1959, Wurlitzer released the Sideman - the world’s first commercially available drum machine which used vacuum tubes to create its beats. This later inspired Keio Electronic (who became better known as Korg) to build the Keio Doncamatic using transistor technology in 1963.
