A grey crow, hooded crow, scald crow or hoodie. These handsome birds are often a surprise to British visitors to Ireland. In the island of Great Britain they are found only in northern Scotland. Elsewhere in Britain they are replaced by the closely related carrion crow. Hooded crows are only occasionally seen in Ireland, whereas the grey crows are common.
