Petal by petal, these complex roses are emerging on the canvas. The twists and turns of their inner petals are hard to follow as I paint them, but if I think of each petal as one unique entity, it helps. Each petal is a unique presence, adding its part to the wondrous whole. Just like us. We are all petals.
