Quiet BPD is still under the Borderline Personality Disorder diagnosis and is NOT separate from ‘regular’ BPD. It’s still just BPD, but rather one of the four subtypes; not all psychs use the subtypes. Some do to help them undersfand how their client’s symptoms manifest. Telling someone with BPD that it is an excuse is undermining what they struggle with every single day and how there diagnosis impacts them. yes, it is possible to work through this to respond differently, but it takes time, learning skills and implementing them even in times when they’re not in distress. It makes it harder for someone with BPD to manage symptoms when they are in an environment that is dismissive, invalidating or traumatizing. Let’s not forget that therapy cost money and not ever
