This is called “walking the dog” 🐕 In the 1800s, Scottish distillery workers created copper dipping dogs to pilfer whisky from aging barrels. These traditional-size dipping dogs had a penny at the bottom, and they were attached to chains or ropes, secured to the workers’ belts, and concealed in their trouser legs.
