Harkness Memorial State Park includes a historic home (constructed between 1906-1907) and extensive gardens (based on the 1920s designs of landscape architect Beatrix Jones Farrand). This juxtaposition is reminiscent of complexes of elaborate homes (palaces) and gardens (especially temple gardens) at the city of Akhet-Aten, the capitol of Akhenaten and Nefertiti.
