The cassowary is a large flightless bird found in Papua New Guinea, southern Indonesia and northern Australia. They belong to the group known as ratites, which also includes ostriches, emus, and rheas.The cassowary has a horny helmet called a casque (say cask) , on its head. Some scientists believe that this helps it crash its way through the thick forest.
