Top Gun premiered today, May 16th, in 1986. The Grumman F-14 Tomcat on display here was stationed at NAS Miramar during filming and made an appearance in the movie at rest, kind of like an extra in the background. We included some historical footage of the USS Enterprise (CVN-65) about a decade before it was used as the aircraft carrier in Top Gun.
