These little hoops are the reinforcing rings, known as vurls, that band the struck end of the Cooper's Hoop Drivers. I forged the conical swage reducers from chrome carbon steel and machined the interior to a consistent 2 degree pitch. The are forged rings rather than bored out from solid bar. They were made abou 3 years ago and seem to be holding up well. This forging process reduces the diameter of the stock and puts on a conical taper as well as a thickened bottom edge, for strength.
