Stitch & Glue, it’s the technique used to build the hull of my kayak, which is built from 1/4” okoume plywood from CLC’s kit. Copper wires are the “stitches” and epoxy is the “glue”, but here’s the assembly process first, which goes super fast, and once you get the hang of it, it’s pretty easy too. Stitch and Glue Kayak
On my kayaks, I normally hand wrap my winders but with so many stringers on a canoe I usually take a shortcut with the drill. These definitely aren’t as nice to lash with, but they’re a heck of a lot faster to make. The cord itself is a flat waxed artificial sinew that is about 30% stronger than the same product that is commonly available. Flat is important because the twisted stuff leaves bumps underneath the skin, which become wear points. We didn’t like the options that were out there so we h
